Location and timing

Where and when: what to ask.

Professionals work in specific areas and set their own schedules. These questions help you find out quickly whether someone can help, and when.

Start with the place

Give a city and state, or the county if you know it. Ask whether they work there, whether they travel, and whether another state’s rules could apply.

Be clear about your deadline

If there is a court date, an event date, or another fixed deadline, say so early. Ask what could affect timing, such as travel, repeat attempts, or staffing.

Confirm it in writing

Availability changes quickly. Once a professional agrees to a timeline, ask them to confirm it in writing along with the scope and fees.

Have a deadline?

Add it to your summary so you remember to raise it on the first call.
